Looking Back at 2013

It’s been an eventful 2013 for Shiner Smokehouse, kicking off with a fantastic Super Bowl party for the books at Shiner’s Saloon in downtown Austin.  Shiner Smokehouse also became an official GoTexan Member early in the year and we are proud to be a 2013 grantee of the GoTexan’s Partner Program sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture.  This is an amazing program dedicated to promoting Texas agricultural businesses across the state, and we are very grateful for the opportunity to work and partner with GoTexan! When the riders arrived at their final destination in Shiner, we provided them with smoked sausages and brats to feed their hungry, worn-out bellies. We plan to do this every year, as it is always fun to participate in community events; community and celebration is what makes us thrive and the main reason behind the founding of Shiner Smokehouse. As we went deeper into summer, the team was busy making sure everything was in planned for our test market in Kroger Supermarkets. Shiner Smokehouse was placed in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston markets in August, and was received well! We expect to have permanent distribution in these markets in 2014. Summer is one of our favorite seasons for grilling, and we wanted to end it with a bang. We did just that with our first ever Shiner Smokehouse Sausage-Fest!  We randomly chose a winner out of over 2,000 people from our mailing list and threw the lucky winner a grilling party! We gave them a custom-made Shiner Smokehouse grill, enough sausages and brats for around 20 people, and all the tools needed for an awesome cook-out. We were sad to see summer leave us, but luckily it was swiftly replaced by our other favorite season: Football Season. Shiner Smokehouse grilled out every Texas Longhorn home game at our tailgate in the heart of downtown Austin, and even took the tailgate out on the road a few times.

In October we were an official sponsor of the Shiner Half Moon BBQ Cook-off in Shiner. We sponsored the cook-off team “Three Men and A Pit” and also provided food for the United Service Organization bikers riding from San Antonio to Shiner. That same weekend, we brought some friends to Shiner and were able to show them around our little town. We took a tour hitting the main spots such as the Spoetzyl Brewery, Howards and of course the Patek Grocery and Meat Market.

November was memorable because we were distributed in Lowe’s Supermarkets across Texas and New Mexico. If you haven’t tried our sausage yet, just click on the store locator on our website to find the closest store carrying Shiner Smokehouse Sausage!

As this phenomenal year draws to an end, we are enjoying spending time with our friends and family during the holiday season. Not only does the season bring us together, but it brings us together over delicious food. We hope your 2013 was as exciting as ours, and are looking forward to a new year full of celebration and good food in 2014.
